Attorney Mark Myers taught the “Quantum Computing and Intellectual Property Law” course at UConn Law School this past summer. Students were introduced to the variety of ways that the advent of quantum computing may affect – and be affected by – the law, particularly intellectual property law. Students had the opportunity to exercise skills essential to the work of an IP lawyer, including efficiently absorbing enough understanding of an emerging technology to be effective and knowledgeable advocates for clients inventing, adopting, or affected by new technologies. He will teaching teh course again in the Spring 2027 semester.

In the November | December 2023 issue of the CT Lawyers, MPH attorneys authored two articles on copyrights and trademarks. Attorneys John C. Linderman and Justin Durelli co-authored “Copyrights for the General Practitioner.” Attorneys John C. Linderman and Mallory Hein co-authored “Trademarks for the General Practitioner.”

On Wednesday, JUUL Labs, Inc., filed trademark complaints in the District of Connecticut and District of Nevada. The complaints allege the defendants have counterfeited JUUL Products by illegally manufacturing, selling, and distributing fake, copied, and non-genuine versions of JUUL Products and related packaging bearing JUUL trademarks. MPH Attorney Justin Durelli spoke at a Continuing Education Education Event “Ethics in Intellectual Property: Key Insights From Application to Jury Verdict” on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Along with Alison Caless from Cantor Colburn LLP and Drew A. Hillier from Axinn Veltrop & Harkrider LLP, Justin spoke on ethical issues arising during trademark clearance and investigations, appropriate conflict-of-interest screening for in-house and outside counsel during patent prosecution, and ethical jury selection strategies for federal intellectual property litigations.

MPH attorney Mark Meyers and Yale Quantum Institute’s Dr. Florian Carle led a CLE seminar on Quantum Computing and the Law at Yale University Wednesday, September 2. They explored how quantum computing and its advent will affect law and policy.
